Snippets from the weekend.

The weekend that was . . .

We welcomed the upcoming weekend with a Birthday :). We were treated to a very yummy breakfast last Friday by one of my "Mommy Friends" at one of our favorite breakfast places, Banapple. Happy Birthday Enchit!

Saturday was a perfectly ordinary day for us :). Except for the hubby who went to the office for half of the day, Uno and I stayed home the whole day.
I had some packing to do for some deliveries. Thank you for shopping at Cookiepot :)!

I had the time to catch the twilight. The magic hour when the sun meets the moon. And the sky was beautiful. And it was a quiet time to get to be thankful for the day.

Had the time too to finally light up this DIY candle of mine. I saw this candle in the Supermarket while I was doing my groceries a while back and I fell in love with its pure white color:). I put it inside a big vase and anchored it with some white pebbles underneath :).

And Uno chose this spot in our bedroom for his afternoon nap and in the evening too. Eversince he had his school camping, he has been wanting to sleep on the floor :). And so, I always have to make a comfy makeshift spot for him :).

And Sundays are always the highlights to the weekend:). Not only because we get to spend time together as a family but most of all because we get to spend time with our Lord. Ah, blessed Sunday :).

How was your weekend? I hope yours was a good one too and I wish you all the blessings for this new week :).

Hit me big time.

As I have shared before, I really treasure the "breakfast moments" that I get to spend with my "mommy friends".  It is at these times that we get to unwind and just be "girls" for a moment, it is at these times when we share stories about our families and children and laugh and learn from each other. This morning, a special mommy friend of mine, Aleah, shared this video with me. She first saw it from Daphne Osena Paez' blog. And so we watched it. And after we did, we cried, and we laughed, and we shared stories.

The video hit my heart and my soul big time. I could not stop the tears from falling. I tried really hard to not cry because we were in a coffee shop :). And the minute I got back home this afternoon, I watched it all over, and there were tears, again. The mother in this video wrote about her journey in bringing up her two sons and her words are beautiful and so true. It is as if she put words into my emotions and it is as if she was talking directly to me. I want to share it with all of you too . . .

Thank you Daphne.ph for sharing with us this video.

Thankful.

Today, I am thankful for . . .

This Beautiful Love Letter.

This chubby legs wearing basketball shoes :).

Precious breakfast moments with my mommy friends :).

This smile that I see on our doggy's face :).

Flat Tops :). A favorite of mine that brings so many childhood memories, has now become Uno's favorite too :).

Funny moments with this funny boy. I asked him while giving him a bath one morning why he had a mark on his leg. I said, "What is this? Did a mosquito bite you again?". He said, "No Mama, it is ok. I already have this mark 20 years ago pa." :)

Blessings big and small, Thank You Dear Lord. Have a happy weekend everyone! I wish you many happy blessings too :).

Independence.

You know what is bittersweet to me? My baby's independence. His school recently had their great "Sleepover" for their graduating students. I describe it as "great" because it is a milestone, I feel, both for us parents and for Uno. I have talked about this so called "Sleepover" with Uno for two years. Telling him how fun it would be, how there would be a campfire just like the ones he sees in the movies, describing how they would be sleeping on the floor with his classmates, and so on:). I wanted him to be ready so that he would be able to fully enjoy this experience. Would you believe, we bought him his sleeping bag a year in advance :)? I had role playing scenarios with him too, like: what if you pee on your sleeping bag, what if you want to drink milk in the middle of the night, what if you miss Papa  and  Mama in the middle of the night, etc. He was  fully prepared and so was I, or so I thought.

I had mixed feelings about the "great sleepover" as the day grew closer. I wanted him to go and really enjoy it and at the same time, I wanted him to stay. I just wanted to always keep him close and never let him go. I want to protect him from the world forever. But he has other plans, I found out. He wants to explore. To be independent. To try new things. To fly outside the nest, this time. I was a bit hesitant, and yet, I was so proud of him for spreading his wings so eagerly and so full of excitement. And so I let go ... and prayed, so hard. Prayers truly are gifts we can give our children, because God really hears us. And he sends His angels to protect our children and guide them. And for that thought alone, I had faith in Him and faith in Uno too, that we prepared him well and that he has grown beautifully and is now ready. And, my oh my, what stories he brought home, what fun he had!  :).

I was wondering why for such a little person and for only a night, I ended up packing two bags for him and another big one for  his sleeping bag, his monster blankie, and Rockers (that's the name of his Dino pillow). Of course, Teddy and Dexter had to come along too. I packed his favorite PJs, his basketball shirt and short sets, his milk, his snacks - WHEW! Better overpacked than lacking :). And yes, the night before the sleepover, we practiced how to sleep in his new sleeping bag :).

I brought him to school at 5 in the afternoon and he could barely contain his excitement :)!

It was everything a Sleepover should be :)! Yes a bonfire :), games, hotdogs, fruits, ice cream, friends!

And lots and lots of goofing around! :)

Then, come bedtime. I commend the teachers and the Sisters for being able to handle everyone :). They are so good at it already (coming from lots of practice and experience). I cannot imagine how they settled everyone - but settled everyone they did. Uno told me that he was among the last ones to sleep because he was still talking with his bedmates, Jack and Tomas :).

This is how it looked while everyone was trying to settle down for bed  - Chaos! :).

Some more goofing around :).

And this is what made me the happiest Mama - he remembered to pray before going to bed :). Even without Papa or Mama there to remind him. If he knows how to pray, then surely he can spread his wings more and fly to the highest he can ever fly. If he knows how to pray then I am  very confident of his newfound independence :).

Caught you :).

I caught Uno pretending to be Karate Kid (he loves to watch this movie) after we arrived from his Karate class one day. I got so amused, good thing I had my Ipad close by and started recording it :). Funny boy. Maybe one day, when he grows up to be a black belt :), he will be able to watch this video ...

Snippets from the weekend.

It was a "filled to the brim" weekend for us :). Starting with Uno's Field Trip last Thursday, then on Saturday, it was marathon cooking for me :), watching a live WWE (Wrestling) show and a birthday party. Then to cap it all, yesterday, Sunday, we had a perfect brunch and the creamiest and yummiest halo-halo :).

While I cooked, Uno decided to be a "KNIGHT", complete with a horse or cow :).

And then, after being a knight, I found him in our bedroom with all the pillows on the floor! I asked him why the pillows are on the floor and he said that he is playing "catch the crocodile" with his Papa :)! At times, yes, I have two sons :).

And then, that night, it was a dream come true for Uno to watch his favorite wrestlers live at the Araneta Coliseum :).

We capped off our weekend with a brunch, lots of running around for Uno and the creamiest and yummiest Razon's Halo-Halo :).

And to start off my week, nothing gives me more joy than seeing this Papa and his Little Boy walk hand-in-hand :).

I wish you all a great and happy week ahead :). God bless you :).

Field Trip.

Last Thursday was a big day for Uno, or for all his schoolmates at that :). It was their school's annual Field Trip and this time, it was going to be at Enchanted Kingdom. Everybody was in high spirits and super duper excited!

Enchanted Kingdom, here we come!

The bus ride was a treat for the kids in itself! They did not mind the long travel: they just played, talked, ate snacks, watched DVD's or tinkered with the Ipad the whole time :).

As soon as we arrived at Enchanted Kingdom, they went wild :)!

Uno is not scared of any ride, unlike Mama:), Ha! Ha! ... Thank God for Ate Len :).

We played games too and tried so hard to win one of those cute stuffed animals :).

And guess what? ... one lucky boy really did get to win one! :)

It was a tiring but very, very fun day for all of us. When we got to the bus, Uno was a bit sad and asked me right away, "Mom, how many more days till the next field trip?" :).
